Can a cell phone be dangerous?

Today's cell phones are much more than just phones. With the capability to take and edit pictures, access the Internet and run applications, they are more like mini-computers. Most of the dangers that exist online could also invade your child's cell phone. In addition to the risks posed by computers, cell phones are increasingly presenting a problem all their own...sexting.

Things to consider:

• Cell phones are too often used as a means of harassment or bullying. Talk to your child about the appropriate and inappropriate uses of cell phones.
• Monitor your child's cell phone bill. Look at the itemized list of calls. This should tell you who they are talking to and when they are using the phone (late at night, during school, etc.)
